De gustibus non disputandum est!

Once upon a long long time, I fear Latin. Not that I knew what it was, but since I grew up to a devout Catholic family, I got used to hearing phrases like "Ave Maria, gratia plena, dominus tecuuum.." and such. And like some ordinary kid who hears something out of the ordinary, I got scared whenever I hear the oldies recite Latin prayers. I feel the hairs of my body stand up when my father's choir would sing the Pater Noster (Our Father latin version) during special occasions, and what's more, when I was 12 I was chosen to lead the Resurexit song (for the Salubong--a Roman Catholic tradition) to be performed on that Easter!

I really don't know why, but I felt like the language was really ghostly. Or was it the songs, the melodies that make it sound scary? I'm not sure either. Really funny huh? haha.

Ironic as it seems, I am now learning it. Latin. The language of the Church.

But not language of the Church anymore.

I learned that there is more to Latin than what I know. Thanks to my ever wonderful course, we were required to take 3 units of Elementary Latin, mainly because Latin is the mother of all the Romance Languages (French, Spanish, Italian, etc). And since French is the mother of the English language, Latin plays a very important role in the formation of its words. Ayan, Linguistics 101 ba ito? hehehe.

Wala lang, I'm just really happy that I got this opportunity to learn Latin, though it's basic, but still, I think it will help me a lot, and I'll eventually learn of its importance with my studies. Not just to sing them in religious reasons without even understanding what the words really mean.

One benefit: I'll be able to translate Pater Noster na. Hehehe. :)

I miss my french. I miss speaking it everyday. Il faut pratiquer si je veux vraiment le maitriser! :(

On the lighter side of things, I enjoyed watching the anime SA. Hahaha. Really funny scenes and dialogues. Hahaha. I personally liked Tadashi and Kei (more like Len and Kazuki, perhaps?) But the more distinct reason was the fact that Kei's voice is my Ryuuki's voice too. Aaaaaw.. so melting :)

Before I forget, a wonderful greeting of 20 years to my BFF (BFF daw? haha!) ORLENE!
Happy Birthday dude! Gosh, goodbye teenage years. I'll be next, huhuhuh. Pero okay lang yan. We'll always stay young at heart, haha! And kawaii at heart too! Nyaha! (Daijobu desu-ka?)

CARPE DIEM: meaning "seize the day!"

*Note:
The title is also in Latin meaning "each is to one's preferences." :)
